Pinewood Derby - March


  

Bates Nut Farm - December 2015


We traveled north of San Diego to enjoy Christmas in the Valley at Bates Nut Farm. The boys enjoyed the pony rides, riding the old fire engine and hay rides as well as the slides and various other activities during the day.

Julian Gold Mine Trip - Nov 2015


We explored the old Eagle Mine and learned to pan for gold enjoy a nice fall day in the mountains.

Mission Trails Hike - Oct 2015


 
We spent the morning wondering around a old creek bed while exploring in the Mission Trails Regional Park. The boys enjoyed seeing the old dam and learning about local history.

Balboa Campout 2015


A fun but hot weekend. The boys made their own meals with boil in bag omelets and foil dinner packs. We hiked, used the ranges, and enjoyed the events of the popcorn rally. At night it was campfires and s'mores and star watching.
   

Bridging


We celebrated the boys progression in scouting with the advancement ceremony and a pizza party. They all had a blast.
  

May 2015 -Memorial Day Campout


We tried a new spot at the Mataguay Scout Ranch and was it fun. A bit chilly and damp but that didn't stop the boys. The enjoyed the ranges, making pottery, exploring the camp and most of all playing with each other. A good weekend.

April 2015 -Scout Fair Visit


The WEBELOS II's who went got to visit there new troops while all the boys enjoyed trying the food and chili. The cubs cheered on Rizq who came in 4th for the District (a new record for us) in the Pinewood Derby and then had fun earning belt loops for geology, art, chess, astronomy, and geography while exploring the fair.

 

April 2015- Arrow of Light


Congrats to Rory, Ben, Rizq, Emilio, Cameran, Dylan, and Evan. The boys did it. All of our WEBELOS II's completed the Arrow of Light requirements and earned there awards. 4 of the boys transitioned to Troop 51 while one went on to 363. We had a nice ceremony and pizza party and cake to close out there cub scouting days.
     

Pinewood Derby March 2015


Boys had fun building and racing the car. Congrats to Rizq for winning and representing the Pack at the San Diego 500 & to al the boys for having fun and enjoying the day. 

Beach Clean up Feb 2015


Good news not much trash to find but the boys enjoyed the morning at the beach helping to pick up what there was and exploring the tide pools, flotsam and jetsam  .

Blue & Gold Dinner Feb 2015


A Pasta Pot Luck with awards & games & shows to celebrate the birth of scouting in the US. Fun was had by all.
      

Tide Pools @ Pt Loma on 3 January 2015


The boys had a blast climbing the rocks and exploring the pools. 

Midway visit 6 Dec


We toured the USS Midway and the  boys had a blast seeing the ship, how the crew lived, and the planes on deck

Living Nativity at Atonement on 5 Dec


Once again the boys helped repay the kindness of our sponsoring activity by assisting with the Living Nativity service helping to pass out cookies and clean up after  the service. Fun was had by all and I suspect the boys had a few of the cookies themselves.

November 2014 Hike @ Mission Gorge


A nice hike organized by Ed for the boys through the trails and trees at Mission Gorge. The day was warm but the boys enjoyed the time in the wilderness and seeing a Hawk. More so they enjoyed the snacks and drinks afterward which were quickly consumed.

October Sheriff Department Visit



The boys visited the Sheriff's department station in Rancho San Diego and learned about the roles of police in the community

Oakoasis Campout Sept 2014


It was hot out but the boys had fun with s'mores, water gun fights,  and water ballon toss, playing nerf battles and capture the flag, plus games under the shelter & a nice hike in the preserve as the evening cooled off. Night time was reserved for zombie tag. We also did star gazing at the full moon and the boys made their own omelets by boiling them. Fun was had by all.
 
 

Balboa Campout 8-10 August


 The boys enjoyed the weekend and earned the BB gun  and Archery ranges as well as time in the pool.  

Biking Belt Loop - June 2014 @ Lake Murray



A small turnout due to many conflicts but we went over bike safety and signals then had a nice ride around the lake.

Pio Pico Campout Memorial Day Weekend


The Pack enjoyed the Pio Pico campsite for the weekend conducting a family camp. The boys earned their kickball, volleyball, and geology belt loops while the WEBELOS helped in preparing a camp meal. Friday night we made S'mores and as Kickball was hard work we all had ice cream Saturday morning. That evening we conducted a flag retirement ceremony for the campsite helping the boys to learn more on how to respect the flag. All in all a fun weekend.

Pinewood Derby - March 2014


Another fun year of racing and congrats to Thomas going forward to represent the Pack as well as to all our racers.   

Annual Blue & Gold Dinner -2/22/14


We celebrated the birth of scouting with a pot luck. The WEBELOS entertained with magic tricks. All enjoyed the food & fun as we welcomed new leaders and said good by to those moving up with their scouts to support Boy Scouting.
  

Feb Event -tour of the Museum of Making Music


 We traveled to Carlsbad in February to learn a little bit about the history of modern music. The boys enjoyed the tour and had a blast with all the hands on activities. 
  

January 2014 Event - Ice Skating at the Kroc Cente


The boys had fun learning to skate.

December Events


 
December was a busy month for the Pack with activities including supporting Atonement Church in their annual Living Nativity, participating in Wreaths Across America at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, and going to the LA Mesa Christmas Nights Celebration.

Thousand Lakes Camp Out



Nov 9th & 10th we ventured to Thousand Lakes for a weekend family camp. The boys had a blast enjoying the camp's facilities for fishing, swimming, playing basketball, and put-put.  Though a bit chilly all had fun and belt loops were earned in astronomy, fishing, and basketball. We shared pot lucks for lunch & dinner (thanks to Gio's and Noah's parent for allowing us to use their site) and of course cooking & eating s'mores (thanks to Conner's folks for sharing their site & fire ring). All in all another successful weekend,

Renaissance Festival



Nov 2nd a portion of the Pack went to the Renaissance Festival at Escondido. The boys watched pirate fights and parades and participated in a treasure hunt throughout the fair as well as volunteering in one of the skits. A good time was had by all.

Apple Picking Julian


Following the Grape Stomp we went and picked (and ate) apples in the nearby orchard. The boys had a blast and learned a bit about where their food comes from.

Grape Stomp


A fun weekend in Julian, the camping was a bit wet but all survived. The grape stomp was a blast for the boys as they learned a bit of history .

Camp Balboa Weekend 9-11 August



We spent the weekend at Camp Balboa. 12 scouts earned their BB gun and Archery Belt Loops. Fun time was spent hiking in Balboa Park, swimming in the pool, and presenting skits for the associated packs. Thanks to all who made the weekend a success.

6 July: Fishing Belt Loop @ Lake Murray



Lake Murray Fishing and Pack 300 picnic potluck -A fun fishing trip/picnic pot luck at Lake Murray. While alas we caught no fish, 11 boys did earn their fishing belt loop.

Pack Overview & Activities



Pack 300 is chartered by and meets at Atonement Lutheran Church in Spring Valley. Generally Den (Tigers through Webelos) meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month at 6:30pm. Recent Pack activities have included;

1) Participating in the Annual San Diego Scout Fair
2) Order of the Arrow Promotion Ceremony
3) Annual Blue & Gold Dinner
4) Hiking along the Sweetwater River
5) Camping at Pio Pico
6) Participating in Atonement's Christmas Festival
7) The Pinewood Derby
8) Visit to the Local Fire Station
9) Visit to a Gold Mine in Julian

We operate year round and seek to provide the boys with the opportunity to have fun with purpose while earning recognition for their academic and athletic accomplishments. If you have a child from 1st (Tiger) to 5th (Webelos) grade come by and see what we do.

Pack 300 - who can participate?



Pack 300 is a chartered pack within the Heartland District of the San Diego-Imperial Council. We primarily serve families residing in the Spring Valley, Casa De Oro, and Rancho San Diego area but are open to all boys who wish to participate. Cub Scouts provides and opportunity for boys in the 1st to 5th grade to participate in fun activities while learning new skills and growing in their abilities and knowledge. While all new scouts must earn the Bobcat Badge indicating basic knowledge of scouting, Cub Scouting primarily consists of the following organized groups within the Pack which are related to a child's class in elementary school:

1st grade - Tigers
2nd grade - Wolves
3rd grade - Bears
4th/5th grade -Webelos

Cub Scouts earn recognition through completing the requirements associated with their group level within the Pack and can earn additional recognition in terms of belt loops, pins, and patches by displaying knowledge in activites as varied as Astronomy to Ultimate Frisbee.

Pack 300 meets at Atonement Lutheran Church off of Sweetwater Springs Blvd. Den Meetings are generally the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the Month (Subject to School Breaks) at 6:30pm till 7:30/8:00pm. A Pack meeting, often occurring on the 3rd Friday, or an outing on a Saturday normally occurs monthly. 

Cub Scouting Core Values


Scouting focuses on building scouts by working on a different core value each month. The core values of Cub Scouting are as follows;
