Volunteer Positions

Year Round Positions



The Cubmaster leads the monthly Pack meetings and other Pack events. Attends monthly Committee meetings, develops the monthly Pack meeting with an organized theme and schedules Den participation at Pack meetings.


Assistant Cubmaster

Helps the Cubmaster with the monthly Pack meetings, fills in when the Cubmaster cannot attend, helps with implementation of Pack events. Attends monthly Committee meetings.


Committee Chair

The Committee Chair leads the monthly Committee meeting, coordinates the monthly Round Table meeting, and gives direction to the number of activities the Pack schedules. Gives help and advice to other volunteers. Acts as a focal point of contact between

the Pack and other Scouting and Chartering Organizations.


Assistant Committee Chair

Assists the Committee Chair as needed and attends Committee meetings, prepares to assume the duties of Committee Chair.



Keeps the Pack checkbook, collects the registration dues, makes bank deposits and writes checks whenever they are needed. Checks are co-signed with the Committee Chair. Attends monthly Committee meetings.


Advancement Chair

Collects rank advancement information monthly, sends summary to the Cubmaster and buys the patches/ pins, etc. at Scout Shop in Newburgh. Distributes all the patches and pins to the Den Leaders at the monthly Pack meetings. Attends monthly Committee meetings.



Takes minutes at committee meetings, sends correspondences to community



Consults with the Cubmaster and committee and put out a monthly Newsletter


Public Relations

Sends out information to the community, place articles in paper, advertise fundraisers.


Membership Chair / Volunteer Chair

Keeps track of the roster. Plans and organizes two membership Recruiting events per year, one in May and one in September. Makes sure everyone has at least one volunteer position. Attends monthly Committee meetings.


Tiger Cub Coordinator

Organizes the first Tiger Cub meeting in August to get the program started. Works with the Tiger Cub Den Leader to decide what Pack events the boys will participate in, gives guidance on running a successful Den.



Keeps track of Pack equipment and Makes sure the flags stands are at each Pack meeting,



Updates the Pack website. Keeps the information current.



The Trainer will be responsible for making sure all the leaders are trained and make sure they have access to the resources that help them run their Dens. The Librarian keeps track of the Packs resource information, booklets, videos, leather kit, etc. that are distributed to the Dens.


Den Leader

Each Den must have a Leader. The Leader plans and coordinates all the activities and meetings for a group of 4 to 8 boys. Can have other parents in the Den help out with the meetings and outings. The Den Leader attends monthly Committee meetings.


Assistant Den Leader

Each Den must have an Assistant Leader. The parents can rotate with this position, but there must be two non-related adults at all the Den meetings


Fundraising Coordinator

Sets up  our Applebee’s Flapjack Fundraiser(s)  Also Oversees Fundraising for the pack. See individual once a year positions below:


Once a Year Positions


Pine Bush Harvest Festival

Coordinates the Event for the Pack. Contacts the Lions club for a space and signs up people to work shifts. We sell popcorn, and have done a pluck a duck booth. Secures donations for the prizes.


Popcorn Coordinator

The popcorn is sold and distributed from September to November. This position requires checking and submitting the paperwork for ordering, picking up or arranging for the delivery and distribution of popcorn to the dens. Collects money and orders prizes.


Assistant Popcorn Coordinator


Scouting for Food Organizes a Pack food drive. Usually done in October / November. Can request everyone bring food to a Pack meeting and then deliver to a local food bank.


Friends of Scouting

Done in January. Organizes the campaign to collect donations to Scouting. Distributes and collects pledge cards and verifies 100% participation in the program.


Overnights / Trip Coordinator

Finds a suitable Overnight activity and makes plans / coordinates with the leadership.


Blue and Gold Banquet Committee

We need 4 volunteers for this position. It requires starting the planning in the Fall, meeting with the other members and organizing a banquet for approximately 200 people.


Pinewood Derby Committee

We need a minimum of 6, preferably more to run this one. Requires organizing, handing out rules and regulations, setting up and running the Derby. Also requires someone to register the cars and make sure they are legally ready to race. Would also need to get the trophies and order patches.


Memorial Day Parade

Organize this for anyone that wants to march in the Pine Bush parade. Obtains the parade marching number from the VFW. Needs to be there the morning of the parade to assemble all the Scouts and Leaders. Usually Den Leaders march with any of their scouts that want to participate. Also Bring the Flags.



Conservation Project

This can be one of the summer activities. Verkeederkill Park is a good place for this. This position would require organizing a Pack conservation activity.


June Activity  ( 2 activities)

In the past we have done a hike at Bear Mountain, Usually done on a Saturday in mid June. Also we usually attend The Fair Oaks Drive-In for a family friendly movie. And there is usually a scout night for the Hudson Valley Renegades in the 3rd week of June.


July Activity  ( 1 activity)

Any outing that a group could participate in would be good.  We usually do a Fishing day at Circleville Park in early July.  (campout is in later July)


August Activity (2 activities)

Events in past years have included bowling, miniature golf, Stewart ANG Base. But other Pack activities can be planned. Would require planning and organizing this event for the Pack.


Fall Pack / Family Activity

In the past we have gone to the Challenger center in Spring Valley. Another suggestion would be roller skating/ice skating. Would require planning and organizing an activity for the Pack, sometime in November or early December.


Winter Pack / Family Activity

Plans and coordinates the Winter activity, in the past we have scheduled hockey games at Albany Devils or Army at West Point.



Pack Overnighter Coordinator / Family Camp Out

Plans and coordinates the family camp out which is usually held in Mid July at a local campsite (D&H or Winding Hills park)
