All First Grade Boys

The Tiger Cub Scout program is for boys who have completed Kindergarten (or are age 7). After earning the Bobcat badge, a boy may earn the Tiger Cub badge by completing 15 achievements involving simple physical and mental skills.

Each month Tiger Cubs generally have at least two den meetings, a pack meeting, and a "Go See It" den meeting outing. The program section of the Tiger Cub den meeting is usually divided into three parts, corresponding to the Tiger Cub motto "Search, Discover, Share."

Shared Leadership
Shared leadership is a key part of Tiger Cubs because the direct involvement of you and other adults is important for boys at this age. Shared leadership also gives each Host Partner, a boy and adult partner, a chance to lead often resulting in an interesting variety of activities as each boy - adult partner team shares its knowledge and resources.

Bobcat Rank

The first rank that every boy must earn when entering the Cub Scouting Program is the Bobcat rank. After a Scout earns the Bobcat Rank, he can begin to work on the Tiger Rank.

Immediate Recognition Emblem
Once a Tiger Cub has learned the Cub Scout Promise, the Cub Scout Sign, and the Cub Scout Salute, he is awarded the Tiger Cub Immediate Recognition Emblem. This is a tiger paw print with four strands to which beads are added as each achievement toward the Tiger Rank is completed.
  • White beads are for Family Activities
  • Orange beads are for Den Activities
  • Black beads are for "Go See It"s
  • Yellow discs (Tiger Track beads) are for every 10 electives completed (not awarded until after the Tiger Cub Badge is earned)
The Immediate Recognition Emblem is worn suspended from the right pocket flap button during the Tiger Cub year.

Belt Loops and Pins
Tiger Cub Scouts can complete and repeat Belt Loops and Pins at any time.
