Cub Scout Fun!

In addition to den meetings and monthly pack meetings, where Cub Scouts do and learn lots of fun things, we schedule great activities throughout the year. Besides Monterey Bay Trekker hikes, camping, and other excursions, in a typical year, we do the following:
Not everyone participates in all these events, and that's fine.

Here are a few other things we sometimes do:
  • Pacific Grove fire station visit
  • Pacific Grove police station visit
  • Point Sur Lighthouse visit
  • Kayaking in Elkhorn Slough
  • Recycled Raingutter Regatta (racing "boats" made of recycled materials in rain gutters)
  • Learning first aid from a nurse or other professional
  • Float Night at the Monterey Sports Center
  • Animal Friends Rescue Project visit
  • Fishing
In addition to all this, some Cub Scouts and their families do the following activities:
Pack 125 loves to camp, and we'd be happy to have you join us! Camping is a wonderful way to spend time in nature, away from electronics. Camping has proven benefits. At Cub Camps, Scouts get to do a variety of outdoor activities, such as nature hikes, climbing wall, canoeing, shooting sports, crafts, and more. Parents can join the fun, or just relax around a campfire, without worrying about food—meals at family camps are prepared by professional staff in an on-site kitchen, so campers do no planning or cooking.

The BSA has put together a page of typical Cub Scout activities. You'll find more information about, and links to, the sorts of great activities that your child can do as a Cub Scout.

You don't have to do all of these activities, but Cub Scouts and their families always have lots of fun doing them. Come join us!

Cub Scout Day Camp

Our council hosts day camps for Cub Scouts throughout the summer.

Cub Scout Day Camp is a daytime camp adventure where Cub Scouts and parents experience a bigger part of Scouting. Programs range from one to five days in length. Each camp offers a variety of activities, often including arts & crafts, games, archery, BB guns, sports, and Scout skills. Cub Scouts will make progress on various adventures, no matter what rank they are in. (For day camp purposes, Cub Scouts are considered to be the rank they will work on from the fall.)

The most convenient Cub Scout Day Camp for us on the Monterey Peninsula is at Toro Park, which is usually held mid-June (the picture is of a water rocket launch at Toro Park Day Camp). However, you are free to attend any day camp you wish.

More information can be found online at our council's day camp website.

If you travel during the summer, you may attend day camp sponsored by another council. Find the council where you will visit, and check their website.

More Fun Stuff!

Cub Scouts have lots of opportunities to do fun stuff! Here we have some scenes from Family Camp (at Chesebrough Scout Reservation in the Santa Cruz Mountains), from Day Camp (at Toro Park), and many other activities. Blacksmithing, archery, BB guns, climbing a climbing tower, playing in a redwood forest, hiking at Pinnacles, making friends with banana slugs, meeting firefighters & police officers, learning first aid from an RN, playing games at the Crossover Picnic—we do all kinds of fun things! Please join us, and together with your child, make memories that last a lifetime.
